According to SE Ranking's analysis of data from over 101,000 websites with Google Analytics installed, the referral traffic sent to websites by Google Gemini saw remarkable growth from November 2025 to January 2026—51% growth in December, 42% growth in January, resulting in a cumulative increase of approximately 115% over two months.

This growth coincides precisely with the release of the Google Gemini 3 series models. Gemini 3 Pro was released on November 18, 2025, Gemini 3 Deep Think on December 4, and Gemini 3 Flash on December 17. Flash became the default model for Gemini applications and Google's AI Mode search.

In the preceding eight months (January to October 2025), Gemini's monthly referral traffic growth rate was only about 4%. The release of Gemini 3 boosted the monthly growth rate to approximately 47%, which is 12 times the previous growth rate.

Gemini Has Surpassed Perplexity

In January 2026, SE Ranking data shows Gemini sent 29% more visitors to websites globally than Perplexity. In the US market, this gap was even larger at 41%.
